  • Missile Commander

    First, you’ll take a NERF rocket launcher powered by USB and connect it to a RaspberryPi. Then you’ll use Scratch to create a program interface for your personal missile defence system: complete with sound effects, flashing lights, programmed attacks and voice overs.Then you’ll design and create a MakeyMakey powered physical controller that can be whatever you can imagine - a joystick made of lolly sticks, a cardboard game controller you drew yourself… even parts of your own body!

  • Pygame Zero

    Python is one of the most versatile programming languages in the world today, and those who know it can do amazing things. From making web-servers, to running embedded technology, to powering the Large Hadron Collider at CERN, to writing mods for Minecraft, Python is everywhere! Come with HackLab as we show you how to use the shiny new Pygame Zero - a layer specially created for students new to Python Programming, allowing us to quickly and easily code our own simple games!

    Level: Level 2This is an intermediate course and is only recommended for children who have completed 3 or more Level 1 courses in the chosen discipline (Coding, Digital Arts .. etc.). These courses take a more in depth look at the software/tools used and require sstudents to have a basic knowledge of them before attending. Experience with general computer literacy students should be able to type confidently and navigate around the operating system unsupervised.

  • Sketch a Circuit

    We take a bunch of awesome fun things - drawing, electronics and twinkly lights and combine them all into a fun-filled day of creating your own electronic artwork! Using the supercool Bare Conductive electric paint, you'll get to make your own artworks that will light up the night! We'll discuss the fundamentals of electronic circuitry, show you how Bare conductive works, and then turn you loose to create your own personalised light-up masterpiece!

  • Build-A-Boardgame

    The first ever boardgame - Senet - was invented in 3500BC, but Boardgames have been a geek staple since the 70's, when Gary Gygax released Dungeons & Dragons and changed the face of games forever! Since then, we've had a load of other awesome tabletop games produced - Settlers of Catan, Hero Quest, King of Tokyo... etc. Over three days, we'll help you design, refine, play-test and fabricate your own tabletop game, complete with lasercut pieces to take home and play with your friends!
